There’s nothing more exciting than starting a new project and I jumped two feet straight in when I spotted Kim Lapacek’s Old School Block of the Month project over on Persimon Dreams. One block a month from a whole set of quilt designers to keep me working on my patchwork skills.
The block this month is the Patched Friendship star and is a variation on the Six Inch Block of the week that I am going to be completing in a couple of weeks which is the friendship star. All the details on Kims block can be found over here.
My fabric choice for this project has been chosen for me by my lovely family who bought me a bundle of Bumbleberries faric from Lewis and Irene. Here’s my block for this month:
I really loved Kims technique for creating a four patched block. It’s not one that I have done before and after doing the Jacobs Ladder Block the other week I would definately pull out the quilt math to re-create the technique. It’s a lot quicker and easier to create the block with squares than strips!
So lets all shout hip-hip horay for a new start with the Old School block of the Month!
