Another week for the six inch block of the week here, I think it’s week 4, and todays block is The New Album Block. I think that that there are several variations of this block and plenty of different sources so I am not sure it’s origin or if I have the right block. Do shout out if you know!

This isn’t a 9 patch block like my previous weeks. I wonder if this got the name new album for the central square that seems to be held in place by it’s corner stones as if it were a picture in a photo album? It sure feels like it.

The dimensions and cutting instructions have been found from She Quilts Alot from her Six Inch Sampler Quilt. I decided that there are enough instructions out there on the web so I would share where I got mine from instead! I’ll be using a different source next week!

The New Album Block

My first two blocks are from my stash and from my Alison Glass fabrics. I say it again and again that I really love the Alison Glass fabric, it’s vibrant and makes every block pop. I dont think you can go wrong with it! I love the green this week!

From my stash, using the same fabrics each week is becoming a little soul destroying! I didn’t pick well and although this block doesn’t look horrendous thie week I don’t like it! I kept the bunnies all the same way up though. That’s a bonus!

My Second Set of blocks are Avery from Ruby Star Collective and from my Liberty Fabric collection. I love the pastel pink creeping in this week amongst my ever favourite blues. A lovely block for Liberty fabric!

The Avery gold fabric framing the “picture” does it well. Normally the Ruby Star fabric lends to a more floral block but with the bold leaves on this weeks block make it pop. It’s a very different block from previous weeks!

The New Album block has been a good one this week. I think I love to frame central blocks and make a think of them. Happy me.

As I go through this six inch block of the week project I am learning new skills with colour placement as well as new cutting and patchwork techniques. Where it will end who knows!
