There’s one thing for sure is you can’t quite beat starting a new project and this current one is an Allotment Sow Along! Full of beautiful gardening puns and what looks like it’s going to be a marvellous new project.

The Sew along is being organised by Pennie at Tuppancehappenyquilts and is an embroidery project using the pattern by Collette Kinley – Allotment – A Birds Eye View. It is the first embroidery pattern like this I’ve had a go at and I’m so excited to be sewing along with others to make it and learn a few things along the way.

We’re starting off in March and that gives us a couple of weeks to get organised with the threads and pattern.

It also wouldn’t be a new project without a new pouch and I couldn’t resist making a new one. Roll onto the Stitching Buddy. A lovely pattern by Rosie Taylor Crafts.

I’ve used some scrap packs to make this that I bought from Sugar Bowl Crafts the other week containing Kaffe Fassett scraps and co-ordinating fabrics. I had Sunset and Ocean. Beautiful colours.

Lots of bright floral colours to make my heart sing in this slightly moody dark and dismal days of Winter in Lockdown.

I have slightly adapted the pattern on the outside flaps so that I could have two big pockets to fit what I needed to go inside. They’re glitter vinyl too so the added bonus of seeing the square patchwork underneath.

The main reason for loving the pattern by Rosie is the embroiderhoop pocket. I love how snug it fits inside making this pouch the perfect pick up and go project organiser.

I absoloubtly adore how this pouch has turned out from every little floral detail to the big punches of colour. There is plenty of space for everything I need in the sew along. Now all I have to do is wait for the start!

Now I am almost ready and with just a few more threads to get hold of I am going to spend the next couple of weeks practicing some of the stitches so I’m ready to launch in come March. Are you going ot join me an the Allotment Sow Along? I think some fun and new friendships will develop through this!
