This a good one today, it is the reason I call myself a creative, it is why I make, it is handmade at my heart. They joy of creation, the joy of making something handmade.

Handmade at Youth

From a very early age crafting has fuelled my world, I wish I had pictures of me sewing like I do of my kids! From the very early mark makings of a toddler, my Mum would tell you I’m sure, I always had something in my hands for the purpose of making something. My daughter is the spit of me in personality, and I like to think this is what I was like as a child.

“Mummy, I want to cut this up to make something for my dolls; will you colour with me?; will you defy gravity with this thing I am sticking together….!”

It makes me laugh, the clear vision she gets on what she is trying to make, she is 5 though so sometimes, actually, she does need my help, there is only so much Sellotape I’m willing for her to waste!!

I digress though, I’ve grown up with creativity in my soul. From those early moments, the hundreds of sewing kits, art classes at school, lunch in the art rooms at High School, an Arts Degree, getting my first sewing machine, making clothes all wrong, learning the joy of writing, having kids and doing creative play, falling in and out of love with sewing…. It all adds up, and this is just touching my surface!

Handmade at my Heart

Creativity is something that I have fought for time and time again, it is something I know is missing if I don’t have it. I am a better person for allowing my creative self, time to be just that, creative!

The trials of being a busy grown up, a Mum, a volunteer, a business owner, a partner, a homeowner, etc, are real…. I’ve found a whole host of ways to fit creativity in my life, tricks, tips, techniques, mindset shifts to make it work because it is important to me.

This is why I have created the Make Time Community – a place to share and inspire with other creative people who have a similar outlook on life. They want to craft like me too!

The Handmade Gift

I love to give handmade. I can see the value in working with my hands to create something unique and personal to the receiver. Not something bought online, shipped around the globe or made of plastic. Something thoughtful. The Two Tiny Makes sewing patterns are designed with this in mind. Perfect for creating that one off piece of magic to give to someone you love.
