I’m a collector of scraps, I sort them meticulously, I don’t like to throw them away, I love to use them. One of my favourite place for inspiration is Sugarbowl Crafts and they have a rolling scrap busting sewalong quilt on the go, I’ve admired them all from afar but at the start of the Summer I couldn’t resist joining in with Off the Grid.

I sort my scraps into sizes of 1.5” – 2.5” and 5” sizes and anything smaller a sorted into colour, this meant joining in relatively easy as I was ready to sew from the off. I’m not much of a buyer of fabrics as I always try and use what I have to make things which means that my scrap collection is colourful.

This is what I went with for this quilt and used ALL the colour on all the blocks!

Avery colourful square block quilt

It was such a nice process of sewing strips of similar colours and not overthinking it until I needed to put the blocks together.

It’s the first time I’ve turned a quilt with on point blocks like this and I really like the effect. I’ve still got to get round to backing it and quilting it, I’ll add that to my list of jobs for the future!!
