The year before last year I took the opportunity to join a wet felting day at Artisan and from my work I created some lovely Hand Felted Cork Sketchbooks with handmade paper insert.
It is not very often I treat myself to learning a new skill from someone else in person but I’m glad I did, it was a wonderful day learning the basics of wet felting and creating my own piece of felt to take away from the day. Once it dried I pondered ages as to what I wanted to do with it!!
I had a bit of cork material left over from another project and I thought the natural material went well with the felt, especially when framed. I love the flecks of paint in this cork too. It adds to the extra colour!
I really love the process of using hand stitching to join the cork and felt together I think it added to the earthy natural nature of them. I have left raw edges and they are all soft and tactile. A really nice project and special note books.
These 3 Hand Felted Cork Sketchbooks are currently available for sale and are £25 each. contact me if your are interested in them as they are no longer currently in my etsy shop!
